Football: Mario Balotelli posts goal celebration video on social media mid-match

PARIS (AFP) - Mario Balotelli showed off a new goal celebration on Sunday (March 3) as he took a selfie video with his Marseille teammates and posted it on social media during their 2-0 win over Saint-Etienne.
The Italian scored his fourth goal in six Ligue 1 games since joining Marseille from Nice in January by hooking home Florian Thauvin's 12th-minute corner with an excellent acrobatic volley.
"Balotelli takes the pressure, he takes the limelight. He reminds me of (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic and he scored an Ibrahimovic goal," said Saint-Etienne coach Jean-Louis Gasset.
"He has brought back the public, the confidence, and many of his teammates will raise their level of play."
As he celebrated his volley, Balotelli took a phone from the cameraman behind the goal before filming the video with his laughing teammates and posting it on his Instagram story.
The 28-year-old then carried on playing.
He was not the first player to produce a selfie-based celebration, after Roma great Francesco Totti took a picture of himself after scoring against Lazio in the capital-city derby in 2015.
Marseille doubled their advantage nine minutes later through a Thauvin penalty and closed out the win with ease.
Rudi Garcia's men have now taken 13 points from their last five league matches to leapfrog Saint-Etienne into fourth, just five points adrift of Lyon in the race for the third and final Champions League spot.

HONG KONG (REUTERS) - Former Arsenal and Brentford midfielder Nico Yennaris has become the first overseas-born player to be called up for the China national team after he was included in Marcello Lippi's squad for upcoming friendlies against the Philippines and Tajikistan.
Yennaris, known as Li Ke in China, was born and grew up in England and is eligible to play for China through his mother, who was born in the country.
The 26-year-old signed for Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan in January and has been granted Chinese citizenship, making him eligible for selection by Lippi as the Italian seeks to boost the fortunes of the country's struggling men's national team.
Yennaris' inclusion marks a significant shift in policy by the Chinese Football Association, which had previously resisted calls to include naturalised players in the national set-up despite it being common practice in many other countries.
However, Yennaris is one of a number of overseas-born players of Chinese descent to have joined a Chinese Super League club since the turn of the year, in a sign that the mood had changed.
The issue was also believed to be a factor in Lippi's decision to return to the helm of the team earlier this month, with the World Cup winner standing down when his contract ended following China's quarter-final Asian Cup exit in January.
Lippi's squad at the continental championship had the oldest average age of the 24 nations competing and is in desperate need of rejuvenation ahead of the country's attempt to secure a spot at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.

 
China will start their campaign to qualify for the Finals for the first time since 2002 in September, with the games against the Philippines and Tajikistan in Guangzhou on June 7 and 11 respectively the only warm-ups planned ahead of their first qualifiers.

LONDON (AFP) - Harry Kane's absence will inevitably affect Tottenham's performances in the coming weeks, manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted on Friday (Jan 18), but the Argentine is positive they can cope without the England captain.
Kane is not scheduled to return to training until early March after suffering ankle ligament damage towards the end of a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United last weekend.
However, the World Cup Golden Boot winner has a track record of returning ahead of schedule from injuries and Pochettino hinted that could be the case once more.
Spurs face huge games against Chelsea on February 27 and Arsenal on March 2 in the Premier League and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on March 5.
"Harry is a very positive person, the moment he got injured he started thinking about recovering as soon as possible," said Pochettino on Friday.
"When he is one of the best strikers in Europe it is going to affect performances.
"We are positive, we can cope and we have players who can cover his position. It won't affect our approach to the games."
Kane's injury is compounded by the absence of Son Heung-min, representing South Korea at the Asian Cup potentially for the rest of the month.
Yet Pochettino reiterated that the club are unlikely to dip into the transfer market for a short-term fix up front.
"It is not going to change our mind. We are open to adding to our squad but that is not going to put pressure on us to sign," he added.
"The market is very difficult. If we find the player that is going to help us and add quality we are more than open to make that happen. At the minute there is no player."
Fernando Llorente looks set to start for the first time in the Premier League this season at Fulham on Sunday, with Lucas Moura still out with a knee problem.
Midfielder Moussa Sissoko will be also be out for another two weeks after picking up a groin strain against United.
